WWPS school board member Derek Sarley seeks state District 16 seat
After 10 years as a member of the Walla Walla Public Schools Board of Directors, Derek Sarley has set his sights on state office. Sarley has announced his campaign for District 16 Representative Position 2. Sarley was elected to the Walla Walla school board in 2015 and has served as board president four times since then. He said he also has a 25-year career in business, building a small public relations startup into a 100-person firm.
“Small businesses are the engines of opportunity for communities like ours,” Sarley said. “We need legislators who understand both business and government to find real solutions to the challenges Washington is facing.”
Among those challenges are high costs for health care and housing, he said.
“Families and small businesses in Eastern Washington need an urgent, pragmatic voice in Olympia — someone who listens, attacks problems instead of people, and stays focused on economic opportunity and affordability,” he said.
